PAE
People
Port Adelaide football legend Darryl Poole
knows that it is the people who make a place.
Highlighting unique stories of local people was
the motivation behind starting his Facebook
page
It’s Port Adelaide
. Darryl will be expanding
on this soon for our new PAE People project, by
capturing more of the inspirational, touching and
unique stories of the people living across the city.
Telling the stories of the people who make up
our diverse community helps to create stronger
connections, and Darryl hopes that together
PAE can continue to grow as a collective and
everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
He will be travelling around PAE to capture
stories and photos, and will be sharing them
through our social media pages and a regular PAE
People feature.
Darryl shares our view that people are the most
important ingredient in any place.“There’s no
doubt the shiny things are important, but it’s the
people that make our community so incredible, ”
he says.
If you know of any unsung heroes that should
be acknowledged as PAE People, please contact
communications@cityofpae.sa.gov.auI tell stories and share photos
because the local, selfless
champions within our community
deserve to be celebrated and
embraced. By shining a light on
them it acknowledges their efforts
and highlights that there are so
many good people doing
good things.

T
he Twilight Christmas Parade
is an evening of celebration,
entertainment and fun for our
whole community, and attracts more than
15,000 families each year.
With our first Twlight Christmas Parade
taking place in 1988, it has become a
popular and much anticipated evening on
our community event calandar.
Every year the local community gathers
to watch a passing parade of over 60
floats and 1,000 people made up of
local bands, sporting clubs, businesses,
volunteers, community and hobby
groups and more, followed by a festive
street party by the iconic Port Adelaide
Lighthouse.
This year the Twilight Christmas Parade
starts at 6.00pm and moves along
Commercial Road, and is followed by a
street party with free amusement rides,
live entertainment, Santa’s Cave, food
trucks, workshops, fireworks and more.
This year Australia’s premier ABBA
tribute band ABBA Gold will delight
audiences with all our ABBA favourites!
There will also be roving and pop-up
performers, elves, face painters, fairies,
robots, Kooky Kidz Markets – for
Christmas shopping – local artisans and
maker for bespoke gifts and decorations
Stop by Santa’s Cave, a cosy scene from
inside Santa’s workshop, designed by local
artist Danica McLean.
Take a ride on the Ferris wheel and enjoy
many more rides and surprises.
The evening ends with a spectacular
fireworks display over the Port River.
We thank our sponsors, local businesses,
Andersons Solicitors and Southern Sea
Eagles for their generous support.
This is a green event. Remember your water
bottle – free water available on site thanks
to SAWater’s Quench Bench.
